100 THINGS:


Lots of things you always wanted to know about me…or not!

1. I will be 64 years old on my next birthday (April 9) in 2009.
2. I’ve been married for 38 years this September (2008)
3. My favorite thing to do is play with my grandchildren ( I have two: a 2 year old boy and a 6 month old girl – as of Aug 2008)

This is Emerson (Emmy). She was born in February 2008. She's a real "Girly Girl"

Lincoln was born on Flag Day (June 14, 2006)
His favorite thing to do is throw rocks down the hill in our back yard. One day a rock stopped halfway down the hill. I said, "it stopped." He looked at me and said, "Why don't you go down and get it?" (wha wha what? This was a 26 month old. That's a LOT of words for a little tyke)


4. I love being around my family (meaning my husband, daughters and their husbands) they are hilarious. Sometimes I laugh so hard I can’t breathe.
5. We were the first family sealed in the San Diego Temple
6. I love food. I love to see it, smell it, cook it, and most of all EAT it.
7. I ‘m one of the two people on the planet that actually likes fruitcake
8. I love cooking (but hate cleaning up afterwards)
9. I HATE cilantro (it tastes like Ivory Liquid – and who wants to pour that over their food? (How do I know what Ivory Liquid tastes like? Trust me. I know.)
10. I never drink water. Can’t stand the stuff – so I put Crystal Light in it.
11. Unfortunately I do like Diet Cokes and I drink too many.
12. I like sweets. I have a stash of red vines and Reisens in three rooms of my house.
13. My favorite gift is See’s candy (nuts and chews)
14. I can’t go to a movie without ordering popcorn and a drink (but no candy).
15. I love chick flicks and comedies (and I especially love to go with my daughters).
16. I HATE violent movies. I won’t go. I don’t want to see blood and guts.
17. I’d rather stay up until 3:00 a.m. than get up at that hour. (I’m a night person. I hate being interrupted by the phone during the day. I can’t concentrate. I get tons done at night).
18. I started working when I was eleven years old. I worked at “Charlie’s Original CafĂ©” which was the chili and hot dog restaurant my grandfather owned. I worked holidays and summers as a waitress and cashier.
19. I worked at an auto parts store when I was in high school .
20. I was a “stripper” in college. (Ha, that got your attention didn’t it? But I wasn’t the kind of stripper you’re thinking. I worked for Robert Hall Clothes. I “stripped” the tags off the new suits as they came in. My actual job title was “Stripper.” My friends all thought that was hilarious so they nick named me “Bubbles.”
21. I LOVE to shop – for anybody, anytime.
22. I start my Christmas shopping in August and I have all my gifts purchased (not necessarily wrapped) by Thanksgiving. That way I can enjoy December and have time to participate in any charitable projects that arise.
23. My favorite holiday is Christmas.
24. I also love Halloween, or any other excuse to dress up in a ridiculous costume. I have a costume closet which looks like a retail store – with costumes from size 6 months to 2X. Boys and Girls. Men and Women’s. (including 40 Moroccan costumes I acquired for a Moroccan party I’ve become famous for)
25. I was the ward activities chairman for five years (would have been longer, but I moved).
26. I was relief society president for five years (the longest in our stake) (for more, see “About Author”)
27. I LOVE to travel. I haven’t been everywhere – but it’s on my list.
28. I especially like cruises. (You only pack once and you get to be entertained and sleep while you are traveling from place to place)
29. My favorite vacation spot is Hawaii. (I’ve been going there at least once a year for 38 years – and I’m kicking myself for not buying a place over there, 30 years ago).
30. One of my most favorite trips was an African Safari. That was awesome. (I was scared to death while I was on it. But, after getting through it - alive - I LOVED it.)
31. I was a foreign exchange student to Turkey while I was in high school.
32. When I met my husband, I had lived in Los Angeles for 23 years but had never been to Beverly Hills. He asked why. I said, “I don’t know anyone there.”
33. I ran away from home once when I was a child. Well, sort of. I actually hid in a closet with a box of Cheerios. Because I wasn’t allowed to cross the street. I was a very obedient child.
34. I have also been a very obedient adult. I won’t cross the street on a red light – even at midnight with no cars coming.
35. I love living in San Diego. It may not be Heaven, but it is in the same zip code.
36. I don’t like winter or anywhere where the sun doesn’t shine.
37. I don’t like skiing. I don’t like to be cold, I don’t like heights, and I don’t like speed. (But I do love ski clothes. I buy a really cute outfit and then just plop myself down in front of a fireplace with a bowl of chili and/or a mug of hot chocolate and pretend to be winding down from a day on the slopes).
38. I used to be able to water ski, but probably couldn’t do it now.
39. I thought I could do the Russian dance where you bend down with one foot in front of you then jump up. I used to do it all the time. But I tried to show off to my daughters and once I got down, I couldn’t get back up again. That was embarrassing.
40. I am a very “careful” person. I don’t do anything that might hurt me.
41. I don’t like amusement park rides (ferris wheels and roller coasters in particular).
42. I would NEVER bungee jump, sky dive, or ride in a hot air balloon.
43. I’ve never had a speeding ticket
44. I don’t really like to drive. I usually make whoever I go with drive so I don’t have to.
45. I HATE spiders
46. I love flowers. All kinds of flowers. (But I don’t have much luck planting them)
47. I love arranging flowers (I’ve won some awards for my arrangements)
48. I like to oil paint (I used to paint about 25 paintings a year)
49. I’ve always been athletic. I was a cheerleader in high school, played volleyball, tennis, and golf (I have a picture perfect golf swing. I look like a good golfer having a bad round),
50. I HATE exercising (and don’t do it)
51. ...that includes jogging – no marathons for me thank you.
52. I like a clean house – but I don’t like to clean it myself (unfortunately my cleaning lady quit a year ago and I still haven’t found anyone to replace her. So I get my exercise cleaning my house.)
53. I also love clean cars (inside and out) but I hate going to the car wash.
54. I love writing. I fear that I spend more time writing about my life than living it. (I’ve published five books – see “About Author”)
55. I love doing genealogy and family histories (I have one line that goes back to 1150)
56. I enjoy reading historical novels and biographies.
57. I like reality TV (I’m a dork)
58. I like listening to Rush Limbaugh and Dr. Laura (I said I was a dork)
59. I have six CD’s in my car and they are all my daughter’s original songs (you can see her and download her music at myspace.com/jenniferlynnjohnson1
60. I love Christmas music.
61. We always trim our tree listening to Handel’s Messiah. It’s a tradition
62. I love traditions
63. I put up four Christmas trees (entry, family room, and two bedrooms)
64. It takes me four days to put up all my Christmas decorations
65. I also enjoy classical music.
66. I used to be a good dancer, but now my girls laugh at me. They have forbidden me to use my thumbs when I dance. (you know the move)
67. My favorite oldies are Manheim Steamroller, Neil Diamond, ABBA, etc.
68. I have food storage – not for a year, but several months anyway.
69. My favorite colors are….all of them. Particularly bright ones like hot pink and orange. But the color I wear the most is black (because it is slimming).
70. I’m not much of a pet person. I never had one as a kid. I let my girls have pets but they never took care of them. Alan and I had to. We had hamsters (kibbles and bits), a turtle (fluffy), several cats (Dolce, Gabbana, & Bonkers), and a golden retriever (Tang - my favorite).
71. We recently bought a home in Las Vegas that had a fish pond with nine Koi fish and I named them all (Little Nemo, Red Baron, O.J., Ugly Betty, etc.)
72. I planted a vegetable garden there and it actually grew!
73. I made a quilt out of my daughter’s t-shirt collection
74. I actually like to do the crafts in relief society
75. I don’t like watching sports
76. I do like watching beauty pageants (I told you I was a dork)
77. I love the smell of coffee, fortunately it doesn’t taste as good as it smells, or I’d have a hard time keeping the word of wisdom.
78. I like to play Bunko
79. I like card games like Gin and Hearts
80. I like parties, but I’d rather be in the kitchen preparing and serving food than be a guest.
81. I’m a poor conversationalist
82. I choose friends who can carry on a conversation despite me
83. I choose friends who are very outgoing and spontaneous (because that’s what I “want” to be - I’m too reserved on my own. )
84. I don’t like to talk on the phone. I’d rather talk in person (or e-mail)
85. I love, love, love the computer. I spend tons of hours on it: writing, reading, shopping, etc.
86. Besides being a blogger, I also have a MySpace page, Facebook page, “self-help” websites, on-line books, etc. (they’re in the margin – click on them to see).
87. I check my email several times a day.
88. When I travel I like to play computer games on the airplane to pass the time.
89. Tetris is my favorite (my best so far is 54,000, level 11 with 112 lines)
90. Dr Mario comes in second (70,500 level 16).
91. I don’t like being around negative people
92. I don’t like people who bad mouth other people
93. I don’t like contention.
94. I don’t yell when I’m angry and I don’t want anyone yelling at me. (Lower your voice. I’m in the room. I can hear you.)
95. I try not to be judgmental
96. I like everyone I meet (until they give me reason not to – and even then, I’m a very forgiving person).
97. I believe in Miracles
98. I believe in prayer
99. I believe God lives and loves me (see my blog about what I know for sure)
100. I’m a very happy person who is content with my life and everyone and everything in it.

I'm afraid I might also be obsessive compulsive. I throw out all my spices every other year and replace all my sheets and towels as soon as they lose their "like new" appearance.

(Did you notice I never mentioned that I was humble? – must work on that)
